What Do We Really Know About Santa Claus?

I have a few questions about Santa Claus. Just general stuff. Like, where was Santa Claus born? Who was Santa Claus’s mother? Did Santa finish high school and go on to complete a college education? Did he have brothers and sisters?

How long did he and Mrs. Claus date before they got married and how did the meet each other? You know. Just gossipy kind of stuff. But, it’s stuff that no one ever discusses and it might be interesting to know a little bit more about the old guy’s personal life, ya know? I mean, he’s been around for how many hundreds of years now and does anybody know HIS birthday? Do we know what HE wants for Christmas? Has anybody ever taken the time, and had enough consideration for the man to ask him if he really likes milk with his cookies or if he’d prefer a grape juice?

So, my curiosity has been getting the best of me lately. I just really can’t believe that after all the time we’ve spent letting our children sit on this guy’s lap, year after year after year, and all the times we’ve let this guy wander in and out of our homes while we’re all sleeping, that no one has thought to do a background check on Santa Claus yet. Don’t you think it’s kind of fishy that he’s always wearing gloves? And what about that red suit? Talk about the perfect disguise! There’s a guy in a red suit on every street corner at Christmas time. What an alibi!

In my guest to unmask Santa Claus, or at least trim his beard a little, I took a stroll over to my local Amazon.com shop to see if maybe they might have a book about the jolly old elf. (And that’s another thing! Elves? How old is this guy and he’s still hanging out with elves?) But, I digress. Onward I trekked to Amazon. And what to my wondering eyes should appear?!

Fify one thousand one hundred and sixty six books about Santa Claus! Fify one thousand, folks! Surely, someone, in all of those books, has thought to ask the old guy when his birthday is.

Well over 15,000 of those books are in the children’s books category, which, I suppose makes sense. Given that the guy spends all his time hanging out with kids and elves and a barn full of toys. But check this out. Almost 12,000 of those books on Santa are in the non-fiction category. Do you know what non-fiction is? It means it’s true stuff! True stuff about Santa Claus.

So I clicked on that non-fiction category because I wanted to see if anybody know this guy’s middle name. And do you know what the very first book in the Santa Claus non-fiction category is? “Santa Claus: A Biography”! OMG! I have got to have that book! And when I get done reading that one, I’m going to get “The Autobiography Of Santa Claus”! That one ought to be a real page turner!

Christmas is near and with lots of expectations every child looks forward to get some best rewards from Santa. Well, you can act as a catalyst and enroll your child’s name to some Santa question sites to give them the joy of their lives.

What is the Advantage?

There are a lot of advantages. Enrolling your child to any of these sites will serve you to make a memento of your child’s IQ. You can see the video and relate to your past in course of time to come.

In this site, Santa generally asks a few questions to the child. The child is required to answer them. There is a video shooting of the entire event. One can see the video shooting once it is over.

The Related Steps:

Log In to the Site: You need to enroll your child in any of these sites by logging in.

Payment Gateways: For this you need to pay the amount which is required by the site. This amount is payable by PayPal or any other payment gateway which have been pre decided by the site owner.

Selecting Option: Then you can choose from the list of questions which are given in the site. From these questions, you can select ones of your choices which you would like your child to answer. For example, of there is a group of 12 questions, you can select 3 from there.

Limited Time Span: There is a limited time san within which the child is required to answer the question. If the child is not able to answer the questions then it becomes obsolete and passes over to the next question.

Requirement of Camera: There is a camera over the computer without which this site does not respond. Santa is gong to ask your child these questions one by one by his own mouth.

See the expressions and Enjoy: You can record the expressions in your child’s face once it is prepared and he or she has already answered to these questions.

The Memories are Forever: It will remain with you as a memento of your endeavor to make a real human being out of your child and the best wishes which was conveyed through Santa Claus on the auspicious occasion of Christmas.

The child, just like little elves will make an impact into the minds of the people by showering their intelligence and making the best from Santa. There are a number of Personalized Santa Videos that can be prepared from a variety of sites, since many sites are presently offering this fabulous offer.

Have you been good this year? I wonder… Let’s see if there is time to get on Santa‘s good list before Christmas…

Get On Santa’s Good Side and Write Him a Letter

Santa will certainly be checking his list come Christmas Eve, so I hope you haven’t been naughty this year. If you have, you may want to smooth things over with the big guy by writing him a pensive letter confessing your sins, as well as your Christmas wishes. Follow my instructions and you’ll get yourself back on Santa’s good side.

First make sure that you’ve got the proper utensils. Santa’s old school, so you’ll have to handwrite this letter. Grab some nice stationary and a solid black ink pen.

Now think long and hard before you start filling the page of with a bunch of nonsense. Brainstorm a list of the mistakes you’ve made this year and also a list of the presents you would like to see under the Christmas tree.

Once you’ve come up with a good list, begin your letter with the salutation “Dearest Santa.”

Not start the body of your letter by telling him that you’ve tried your best to be a good boy or girl this past year. He may already know this, but it doesn’t hurt to remind the old man. Then apologize for any of your transgressions and promise to be better next year.

Then start a second paragraph and begin telling Santa the presents you would like. Remember to start the paragraph with a “please” and remember not to sound too greedy. If you really want a new table top easel, then you probably shouldn’t also ask for a slew of new clothes.

If you really want to get on Santa’s good side, also tell him that what you would really like most is for your brothers and sisters to get what they want for Christmas.

Finish the letter by thanking Santa for his generosity and sign it “Love” or “Sincerely” with your name at the bottom.

Mail it out with a stamp and wait for Christmas morning!

Will you be decorating this Christmas? Holly and Ivy are a must if you live in colder climes but what do you think about the big plastic santas .. not for me but they seem to be for baby boomer generation…

The Holly and the Ivy and the Blow Up Plastic Flashing Santa

Christmas decorations in pre baby boomers years were mostly home made; paper chains and prickly holly wreaths the mailman complained about as he tried to squeeze Christmas cards through the letter box, getting skewered on the holly in the process!

<!--

Christmas stockings pinned to the mantel were actual old stockings, washed and patched and pressed into Christmas service; childish drawings were used for Christmas cards and sprinkled with glitter which spread all over the house each time an open door or window created a breeze! Our modern day decorations are sophisticated and undeniably gorgeous.

Those of us who aspire to discreet Christmas decorations are at variance with the ‘Christmas tackiness brigade’ and the clash of interests can be interesting at this time of year, according to psychological articles.

Some people have a flair for decorating their home at Christmas time. There is no doubt about it that some baby boomers have perfected the art of classy Christmas adornment. The door wreath is perfect and fragrant with just the right amount of color; the staircase is decked with evergreen and color matched bouquets to compliment the décor; the tree is correctly balanced with fat bows of wide Christmas ribbon, wired to produce the best effect and stay in shape; the Christmas lights are the tiniest and brightest, winking cosily in the firelight. No trace of tat! No angel hair drunkenly wafting around the sitting room – no red or green foil hanging lanterns!

Other baby boomers have a different agenda when it comes to Christmas cheer. They deliberately seek out the worst possible clashing colors and Christmas novelties to deck the house with the noisiest and most intrusive crackerjack pendants; red and white painted Santa faces; spray on snow that adheres to the windows and won’t come off no matter how you scrape and rub; racing roof lights that make the house resemble a highway truck stop diner.

The worst possible tacky Christmas decoration must be the blow up plastic flashing Santa; the bouncing red and white clad effigy of Father Christmas, usually super sized, crawling up the side of the house or positioned to look as if he is about to abseil down the chimney. He is large; he is garish; he is ugly; he has no trace of good taste about his person; he is irresistible to baby boomers on a mission to destroy every vestige of good taste in Christmas decoration!!

Psychological articles claim that people with a conflict of taste, not only in décor but also in Christmas trimmings, clash horribly at this time of year and fail to agree on just about every aspect of Christmas, from the size of the tree to the colour of the candles on the table!

If you live in a house with a tasteless tat magnet, try to exercise a little tolerant diplomacy this year – even flashing Santas need love!

Maybe it’s the undeniable alliterative appeal of Rudolph the Red-Nosed reindeer that makes him the most known or popular of all Santa’s nine flying reindeers. It certainly doesn’t seem as easy to come up with a similar catchy description for the others – Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner and Blitzen – as named in the song.

The story of Rudolph whose glowing red nose made him a standout, first appeared in 1939 when Montgomery Ward department stores distributed about 2.4 million booklets with the poem in the form of a story about “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.” It was written by Robert L. May, who worked in the store’s advertisement or marketing department, to be used to attract more people into the store. When the booklet was reissued in 1939, sales soared to more than 3.5 million copies. But it wasn’t until a decade later, in 1949, that the story really gained immense popularity when Gene Autry sang a musical version of the fable. As a Christmas song, it is second only in popularity to ‘White Christmas.’

Rudolph, the ninth reindeer whose lighted nose guides Santa’s sleigh through the night, is now known worldwide as the song has been translated into more than 20 different languages and an animated television movie has also been based on the story. Rudolph and his noticeable nose have also become the subject of jokes and sparked more interest in reindeers which has led to much research into Santa and the flying reindeers who pull his sleigh through the sky.

Along with the catchy rhythm of the lyrics, Rudolph’s story is also appealing because of the moral lessons it contains. As the story goes, Rudolph was ostracized by the other reindeers, which laughed and teased him about his shiny red nose. But on a foggy night, when Santa must have been concerned that he may not be able to deliver his Christmas gifts around the world, Santa spotted him and kindly asked if he would step to the front as the leader to ‘guide my sleigh tonight.’ His shiny red nose would after all be very useful in lighting the way, Santa thought. From then on ‘all of the other reindeers loved him,” and rightly predicted that he ‘would go down in history.’

Among the moral lessons the story can impart is that an attribute that is perceived as negative or as a liability can be used for a positive purpose, or, become an asset. It also makes the point that an individual should not let the negative behavior of others define him or her and limit expectations of what can be achieved. And it also illustrates how quickly opinions and attitudes about a person can change.

The question still lingers however of where Rudolph came from. He is commonly regarded as the son of Donner (or Donder), one of the original eight reindeers. But the Snopes.com site rejects this however, saying that he dwelled in a reindeer village elsewhere and it was there that he was seen by Santa who had already started on his Christmas Eve journey to deliver gifts. And in a more modern evolution of the story according to Wikipedia.com, an animation by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) introduced a son, named Robbie, of Rudolph. That son has now become the tenth reindeer.

It’s also interesting to note that the idea of Santa’s sleigh being pulled by reindeers was originated in the poem, ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas.’ That poem tells the story of St. Nicholas, who is Santa, calling his eight tiny reindeers by their names, as previously mentioned, just before he came down the chimney of a house to start filling the stockings from a sack full of toys he carried on his back.

When you are a child the most amazing thing about Christmas is the excitement of seeing Santa come down the Chimney in his Santa suit and and deliver the presents in the night. So here are some ways to build up the excitement in the days leading up to Christmas Eve.

Give your child the gift of amazement… A Package from Santa

The most exciting time for chilren on Christmas eve is the thoughts of Santa Claus landing his reindeer and sleigh on the rooftop, sliding down the chimney, eating his cookies and drinking his milk before leaving lots of presents under the christmas tree. Many adults remind their children they must be on good behaviour all year to earn a visit from Santa Claus.

The result is having children seeking reassurance that Santa has given them a passing grade on their behavior for the year, and that Santa will be making that late night stop at their home on Christmas Eve.
As December rolls around it is a little too late for children to start working on their behavior record. It is always a cool thing for the children to get personalized letters from santa claus a week or so before christmas to reassure them that he will be making a stop at thier house on Christmas Eve.
This letter will give the children a feelng of accomplishment. The parents will benefit as well.
For a parent to experience the glow on a childs face as Christmas Eve gets closer is what makes parenting great.
Although, another benefit is having to eat all those cookies and, drink the milk that our little darlings worked so hard to lay out for Santa as he will be needing a snack after dropping off presents.
It’s a wonder how the jolly St Nick can fit down the chimney after eating so many cookies. It’s not very difficult to make sure your child receives a letter from Santa. Many parents have been known to write the letters from Santa for their own famiy.
I do not recommend you do this because you run the risk of the kids recognising your hand writing and ruining it all. There are some services that offer a santa letter service of some kind.
I would even advise against those mass prdouced letters and spend a small amount to have personalized letters from Santa done by a professional that writes personally to each child on a personal level which has a greater impact.
